Barbara S. Miles

Mrs. Barbara Suthoff Miles, age 77, passed away Monday, October 10, 2011, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence following a brief illness.

Born May 15, 1934 in Moss Point, MS she was the daughter of the late William Henry Suthoff and the late Mamie Davis Suthoff. Barbara graduated from Moss Point High School and attended Parkinson Junior College and Millsaps College. She was a member of Johnsonville United Methodist Church where she served as Chairperson of Worship and was a retired school food service supervisor.

Barbara was a member of the Johnsonville Red Hatters, a former president of the Johnsonville Chapter and the South Carolina State Women’s Club, and a board member of the Johnsonville Public Library.

Survivors include her husband, William Henry “Bill” Miles of the home; daughter, Cheryl Helms Bolyn (Frank Bolyn) of Johnsonville; son, William Henry “Bill” Miles, II (Melanie Bellew Miles) of Sumter, SC; grandchildren, Lauren Helms Nettles of Johnsonville, Morgan Blythe Helms of Charleston, SC, William H. “Tripp” Miles, III of Sumter, SC, Michael Christopher Miles of Sumter, SC; great grandson, William Badyn Nettles of Johnsonville; sister, Peggy Suthoff Collins of Gautier, MS; and brother, Wannon Suthoff of Moss Point, MS.

Mrs. Miles was predeceased by two brothers, Bernard Suthoff and Norvell Suthoff.

Funeral services, conducted by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Johnsonville United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Garden of Devotion cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from1:00 PM-2:00 PM the day of the service.
