Rev. Alfred Cockfield, 65, husband of Sybil Strickland Cockfield, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on April 8, 2026. Born on September 9, 1960, to the late Philip Pledger Cockfield and Frances Singleton Cockfield, in Hemingway, South Carolina, Alfred lived a life devoted to faith, family, and music.
Alfred was a man of deep spirituality and dedication to his community. He served as the former pastor of Leo Church of God and Celriver Church of God in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Through his ministry, he touched countless lives by spreading God's Word. His faith was the cornerstone of his life and guided him in all that he did.
A talented musician, Alfred found joy in playing the piano and singing. Music was not only a personal passion but also a way for him to connect with others and express his devotion to God. He cherished moments spent in the mountains, where he found peace and inspiration. Above all else, Alfred treasured time with his family, creating lasting memories.
He is survived by his son Brandon Cockfield; daughter Bridget Cockfield; grandchildren Raven Marlow, Tyler Cockfield, Trey Cockfield, Lillionna Cockfield, Shaniya Cockfield, and Braylin Cockfield; and his great-grandchild Ashlynne Brown. He is also survived by his adopted daughter Chelsey Port and her children Jabari Wilson, Jayla Wilson, and Jaxon Tanguay. Additionally, Alfred leaves behind two brothers and five sisters; and his daughter-in-love Amanda Cockfield.
Alfred was predeceased by two brothers and a sister.
Alfred's legacy is one of faithfulness, kindness, and an enduring love for those around him. His memory will continue to inspire all who knew him.
May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him.
A Visitation will be held on April 10, 2026, from 06:00 PM to 08:00 PM at the Morris Funeral Home Chapel 416 N Main Street Hemingway SC, 29554.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 11, 2026, at 03:00 PM at the Leo Church of God 5124 Dewey Cox Rd Lake City SC, 29560.
