Alma Getha Cockfield Cox, 84, widow of Charles Dennis Cox, Jr., passed away Sunday, October 3, 2021 in a Florence nursing center.

Mrs. Alma Getha was born in Hemingway, SC, a daughter of the late Simon William Cockfield and Mertie Lea Phillips Cockfield Eaddy. She was a graduate of Indiantown High School and Columbia College with a degree in Business. She was a member of the Indiantown Presbyterian Church, church organist for many years, accompanist for many community functions, and was a member of the Women's Circle of the church. She worked with the Hemingway Schools for many years.

She had a passion for music, loved animals and particularly enjoyed time in the mountains and at the beach with friends and family. Above all else she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is survived by her children, Yvonne (Davis "Spud") Chandler, Valerie Lea Cox, William Dennis "Bill" Cox, and Charles H. "Roe" Cox; grandchildren, Franklin Davis Chandler, Charles Dennis Chandler, Marina Skye Cox, Charles Rains Cox, and Aeralyn Rae Cox; great-grandchild, Dalton Aaron Nero.

She was predeceased by brothers, Simon William Cockfield, Jr., and Lea Phillips Cockfield.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, October 6, 2021 in the Indiantown Presbyterian Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home Hemingway of SC, will be in the church cemetery, 4865 Hemingway Hwy., Hemingway, SC 29554.

The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM.
