Angel was born on November 26,1950 in Louisville, KY, son to Howard William and Amelia Nevitt Simms. He was a man of faith and a member of Our Lady of the Highways Catholic Church located in Thomasville, NC. Angel was a man who always gave of himself to others. He loved riding his Harley and traveling. His moto was it's never about the destination, it's about the ride. Every trip to him was an adventure and he loved sharing the beauty of this country and these adventures with his wife.

Angel served his country from 1968 until 1990, serving 6 years in the Marine Corp and 16 years in the Army. He did one combat tour in Vietnam in 1969, He retired from the US Army in 1990 as a Master Sargent in Special Forces (Green Berets). He graduated from Campbell University in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in psychology. He also retired as a Captain from the Calabash Fire Department in 2013.

He is survived by his wife, Margie Duke Simms, children, Jennifer Simms, Larry Simms (Amanda) of TN and Marie Zsanic Carl (Scott) of Conway, SC. Two step-children, Gregory Cannon Duke II and Peyton Duke Nolan of Garden City, SC. Two sisters, Judy Ary of Lake Jackson, TX and Linda Hall (Jeff) of Port Charlotte, FL and one brother, Mark Simms (Suzy) of Arlington, TX along with 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Howard William and Amelia Nevitt Simms and a daughter, Shanna S. Bruce (Robert).

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, July 15, 2023 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Hemingway, SC with burial in the Union United Methodist Church Cemetery, 8209 Rose Hill Rd., Georgetown, SC 29440.

The family will receive friends from12:00 PM until 1:00 PM Saturday, July 15, 2023 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, 416 N. Main St., Hemingway, SC 29554.
