Obituary

Annie Lou Cribb Gamble, 95, widow of Harry Wilson Gamble, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025, at The Lakes at Litchfield in Pawley's Island, South Carolina.

A daughter of the late John Rocky and Leila Ruth Cribb, Annie Lou was born on November 10, 1929 in Georgetown, South Carolina.  After graduation from Pleasant Hill High School she went on to pursue her passion for caring for others by attending the McLeod School of Nursing. Her dedication to nursing led her to meaningful work at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Hemingway. She later made history as the first school nurse for the Williamsburg County School District, where she provided compassionate care and support to generations of students.

Annie Lou found joy in simple pleasures—traveling across the United States with bus groups and cooking hearty meals for loved ones were favored activities for her.  She found her greatest joy, however, in taking care of her home and family.  She was an active member of the Indiantown Women's Circle and The Joy Club of Hemingway.  Known as a quiet, soft-spoken prayer warrior, she touched many lives through her gentle spirit and steadfast faith.

Annie Lou is survived by daughters Margaret Anne Gamble Wilson and Barbara Gamble; granddaughter Sarah Margaret (Stephen) Rosling; and great-grandchildren Thomas and Emma Gray Rosling.

In addition to her husband and parents, Annie Lou was preceded in death by her sister Harriette Elliot and brothers DeWitt Cribb, Lamar Cribb, and John F. Cribb.
