Annie Joe Evans Hicks (80), widow of William H. "Bill" Hicks, a long-time resident of Johnsonville, died Friday the 28 th of June at Mcleod Regional Hospital in Florence, SC.
Mrs. Annie Joe Hicks, daughter of the late Richard and Mary Ard Evans, was born in Pamplico, SC on February 5, 1939. She was united in marriage on December 4, 1954 to William "Bill" Hicks and they were married for 54 blissful years.
Annie Joe had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of the Johnsonville Pentecostal Holiness Church. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. A loving mother, grandmother, and homemaker, Annie Joe was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals and cleaning for her family and many friends. She enjoyed ceramics, painting, coloring, but most of all, loved to bake cakes and goodies.
She is survived by her children, Ricky (Gail) Hicks, Pattie (Eddie) Fucci, and Robbie (Lynne) Hicks; 6 grandchildren, April (Toronto) King, Vicki Hicks Dionne, Danielle Hicks, Lydia (Kyle) Balton, Colby (Kelsey) Huggins, Carley Hicks; 9 great-grandchildren, Caitlin Hicks, DeAndre King, Toronto Jr. King, Harley Lee, Anna Thompson, Alanah Crutchfield, Brody Balton, Evie Balton, and Mary Egan Huggins; and special friend Ed Tanner. She was predeceased by a son, James Ray Hicks; three brothers, William Earl, Hubert and Deleon Evans; one sister, Barbara Loflin.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 PM on Sunday, June 30, 2019 in the Johnsonville Pentecostal Holiness Church located at 330 North Georgetown Hwy., Johnsonville, SC 29555.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, June 30, 2019 in the Johnsonville Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be in the Friendfield Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery, located at 2019 South Friendfield Road, Scranton, SC 29591.
