Benny Roland Hatchell 84, husband of Joyce Perry Hatchell, passed away on June 5, 2025, in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Benny was born at home in the Kingsburg community, one of nine children born to the late Roland and Pearl Miles Hatchell. A dedicated and skilled electrician, Mr. Benny was known for his tireless work ethic and could often be found "piddling" in his beloved garage, always finding something to fix or improve. When he wasn't working, he found joy and freedom riding motorcycles and boating, passions that brought him much happiness. He was an active member of his community, and a devoted member of Kingsburg Baptist Church. Mr. Benny shared nearly 64 wonderful years of marriage with his dear wife, Joyce Perry Hatchell, whom he affectionately called the luckiest woman in the world.

Mr Benny is survived by his wife of nearly 64 years, Joyce Perry Hatchell; a son, Scott (Angela) Hatchell; grandsons, Devin (Dr. Harriet Hall) Hatchell, Christopher (Tess) Hatchell, and Nicholas Roland Hatchell; siblings Miriam Powell Hare, Mary Godwin, Patricia (Eddie) Turner, and Irene (Buck) Tanner; sisters-in-law Geraldine Hatchell and Ruby Hatchell; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ranny Hatchell, Billy Hatchell, and Bobby Gene Hatchell; a sister, Ramona Altman Scott; and brother-in-law, Billy Godwin.

The family greatly appreciates the support given by Amedisys Hospice and the other caregivers and family members who rallied around Mr. Benny during his illness.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at 2PM, at Kingsburg Baptist Church, 1730 Old River Road, Johnsonville, SC 29555. The family will receive friends from 1PM until 2PM prior to the service.
