Betty Sue "Patsy" Jackson, 85, widow of Ellis M. Jackson, Sr., passed away peacefully on July 10, 2023, at the Heritage Home of Florence, SC.
Mrs. Patsy was born in Angier, NC, the fourth of eight children born to the late Russell and Hester Hawley Pope. She graduated from Zephyrhills High School of Zephyrhills, Florida, in 1955. After attending business school in Fayetteville, NC, Mrs. Patsy worked as a bookkeeper with David Godwin Realtors in Fayetteville, and then as a teller at First Citizens Bank of North Carolina in Dunn, NC. She worked for over twenty years in both positions.
Mrs. Patsy was a devout Christian who served the Lord faithfully as a member at Culbreth Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church in Falcon, NC, in various capacities, including deaconess, secretary/treasurer, and a Sunday School and Girls' Auxiliary teacher. She was also an active member of the Women's Ministries and the church choir.
She loved working in her flower beds, reading, cooking, and enjoyed watching and listening to preaching and singing, especially that of Jimmy Swaggart. Above all, Mrs. Patsy was a loving wife, supportive mother, and doting grandmother. She left a legacy of family and faith that will inspire future generations of her family.
She is survived by a son, Rev. Martin (Hope) Jackson of Hemingway, SC; daughter, Jennifer (Chaplain, Lt. Col. Shane) Marley of Panama City, FL; five grandchildren, Benjamin, Bethany, and Anna Grace Jackson and Emma and Ava Marley; sisters, Kay Raburn, Mollie Sumner, Gloria Bowen, and Lavon (Richard) Beavers; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Ellis Jackson; brothers, Leon (Lillian) Pope and Kenneth (Ann) Pope; a sister, Mary Lou (Jack) Hughes; brothers-in-law, Thomas Jackson, Bill Devane, Donnie Sumner, and Larry Bowen; and sister-in-law, Grace Devane.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 14, 2023, from 3-4 PM at Culbreth Memorial PH Church, 8443 Fayetteville Rd, Falcon, NC 28342.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 4 PM, at Culbreth Memorial PH Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, and Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home of Dunn, NC, will be in Falcon Memorial Cemetery, Brooks Street Extension, Falcon, NC 28342.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Rehobeth PH Church earmarked for the World Missions Fund, 1573 Cowhead Road, Hemingway, SC 29554.
