Mrs. Betty Ann Newton Powell, 79, widow of James Allen Survay Powell, Sr passed away peacefully at her home in Andrews on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.

Born in Andrews, Mrs. Betty was a daughter of Glennie and Mary Green Newton.  She was a homemaker whose greatest enjoyment in life came from spending time with her family.

Mrs. Betty is survived by a son, James "Champ" Allen (Jennifer) Survay Powell, Jr. and  daughters Lilla (Bruce Godwin) P. Long and Mary P (Big John) Rowe; a brother, Marvin Newton; seventeen grandchildren; and thirty-four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Betty was predeceased by daughters Betty "Betsy" P. Cox, Laurie P. McDaniel, and Leatha P. Lambert; sisters Frances Marlowe, Mary Faye Turner, and Shirley Spencer; brothers Donald Newton, Lamont Newton, David Earl Newton, Elvis Newton, and Ronald Elliott; son-in-law, Keith McDaniel, Sr.; and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 29, 2024 from 3:00 – 7:00 pm at 65 Nettles Lane, Andrews, SC, 29510.

Burial will be private.
