Billy James Baxley, 76, passed away Saturday, September 18, 2021 in a Florence hospital.

Billy was born in Hemingway, SC, a son of the late Joseph James and Edith Creel Baxley. He was a member of New Vision Free Will Baptist Church where he enjoyed going and spending time with his church family.

He graduated from Johnsonville High School and after serving 4 years in the US Air Force he returned to Johnsonville and retired from the Firestone Rubber Plant in Kingstree, SC. He enjoyed fishing with and being a member of the Reel Crazy Bass Club.

He is survived by a brother Ronnie (Carolyn) Baxley; sister-in-law, Cheryl Baxley; brother-in-law, Dennis Matherly; a number of nieces and nephews that he loved spending time with.

He is predeceased by a brother, Mallon Baxley; sisters, Primmie Elizabeth Baxley and Carolyn Matherly; nephew, Jamie Herring.

Graveside services, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at the Lake Chapel Cemetery, 860 Lake Chapel Road, Johnsonville, SC 29555.
