Obituary

Bobbie Jane Baxley, age 91, widow of Edmond R. Baxley, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026.

Born on July 19, 1934, in Johnsonville, the daughter of the late Otwell Delwood and Iona Humphries Altman, Bobbie Jane lived a life rooted in family, faith, and community. She was a devoted member of the Johnsonville Pentecostal Holiness Church for over 40 years, where her presence and dedication were deeply valued.

Bobbie Jane was a woman of entrepreneurial spirit and style. She owned and operated a ladies' clothing boutique, where she combined her keen eye for fashion with a warm and welcoming demeanor that made her shop a cherished part of the community.

Family was at the heart of Bobbie Jane's life. She found great joy in cooking for her loved ones and spending time with them whenever possible. Her home was often filled with the comforting aromas of home-cooked meals and the laughter of multiple generations gathered together. She also enjoyed working in her yard, taking pride in maintaining a beautiful outdoor space that reflected her care and attention to detail.

Bobbie Jane cherished outings with friends—whether shopping or dining out—and these moments brought her much happiness throughout the years.

She is lovingly remembered by her sons: Edmond Russell Baxley, Jr. (Julie) of Beaufort, SC; and Don Barry Baxley (Samra) of Johnsonville, SC. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Edmond Russell Baxley, III (Stephanie), Heath Hunter Baxley (Olga), all of Beaufort; and Don Barry Baxley, Jr. (Carlie) of Johnsonville. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Valerie Baxley, Mila Baxley, Austin Baxley, Allison Baxley of Beaufort; Liza Baxley, Rose Baxley, and Britton Baxley of Johnsonville. Bobbie Jane is also survived by her brothers Warren Altman (Rounette) of Summerville and Mike Altman (Ann) of Hemingway.

She was preceded in death by her brothers O.D. Altman, Vernott Altman, and Carol Altman.
