Miss Bobbie Jean Chandler, 85, died Friday, April 24, 2020 at the Lexington Medical Center.

Born in Johnsonville, South Carolina, she was the only daughter of James Milton, Sr. and Pearleen Elizabeth Creel Chandler. Growing up on a farm in rural Williamsburg County was a happy time especially with the activities centered around her father's country store on Henry Road.

Bobbie attended Hemingway High School, graduating in 1952 as President of the Senior Class. She left for Columbia after graduation to pursue a nursing career. She graduated with a class of 44 from the South Carolina Baptist Hospital College for Nurses in 1955. Most of her 40-year professional career was spent in the practice of Dr. Charles R. Sloan, 1415 Blanding Street, Columbia, S.C. Guided by her strong Christian faith, a member of Washington Street Methodist Church in Columbia, Bobbie was always caring and compassionate. She saw to the needs of her aging parents and her older brother, James Milton "Jim" Chandler, Jr. Bobbie was preceded in death by both parents, and her older brother.

Although petite in stature, Bobbie was a mighty force. A strong minded, independent woman always in charge. She loved to travel, always enjoyed good food, had a quick wit, and cheerful smile.

Bobbie will be greatly missed by her many cousins and friends, especially her dear lifelong friend Kay Lynes of Rock Hill, Marilyn Prater and Beth Martin of Lexington.

Bobbie will be laid to rest in the Garden of Devotion Cemetery on Monday, April 27, 2020, in a private service directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC.
