Carlisle Jones, 100, widower of Eva Blackwell Jones, passed away Monday, May 10, 2021 at his home.

Mr. Carlisle was born in Hanna, SC, a son of the late Samuel J. and Lindsey Snow Stone Jones. He was a retired Mail Carrier, a graduate of Hannah High School Class of 1937 and after high school he went to work for Prosser's Department Store. In 1942 he joined the US Army where he served as communications sergeant in the 410 ^th Infantry Regiment of the 103th Division A Company with service in France, Germany, and Austria.

After returning home from the war he became a co-owner, along with Inez Gaster and Demry Stone, in Friendly Dry Goods in Johnsonville and because of his friendly nature, he became known as "Mr. Friendly".

He was a member of the New Prospect Free Will Baptist Church, where he had served as church Treasure and taught Sunday School for 60 years. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

He is survived by two sons, Willie (Karen) Jones and Samuel Barry Jones; grandchildren, Adam Jones and Kelsey (Blake) Gibbons.

He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years Eva Blackwell Jones and a brother, S. J. Jones.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, May 12, 2021 in the New Prospect Free Will Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM Wednesday, May 12, 2021 in the New Prospect Free Will Baptist Church, 4221 Sheminally Road, Pamplico, SC 29583.

Memorials may be made in honor of Mr. Carlisle Jones to the New Prospect Christian School, 4221 Sheminally Road, Pamplico, SC 29583.
