Obituary

Carol Levon Jowers, 75, spouse of Nanette McAllister Jowers, of Johnsonville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026 at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence, South Carolina.

Born on December 28, 1950, in Hemingway, South Carolina, Levon, as he was known to all, was a son of the late James and Lillie Daniels Jowers. He lived the majority of his life within the community in which he was born. Levon’s life was dedicated to faith, family, and service.

Levon proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. Following his military service, he built a career as a skilled meatcutter for IGA, where his hard work and dedication were evident to all who knew him. Beyond his professional life, Levon was deeply committed to his faith and community. A devoted man of God, he spent his life striving to serve the Lord through various roles in his church and beyond. He was an active member of Gideons International and served as a Sunday School teacher and past Deacon, leaving a lasting impact on those he guided and inspired.

Levon found immense joy in spending time with his family and cherished every moment shared with them. His love for helping others was evident in all aspects of his life, reflecting his kind heart and unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of those around him.

Levon leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years as well as his sons Jamie (Casey) Jowers and Ben (Jennifer) Jowers; six beloved grandchildren: Kevin Carson Jowers, Madison Brooke Jowers, Jackson Benjamin Jowers, Lincoln Carter Jowers, Elijah Grant Jowers, and Grayson James Jowers; and sisters: Frances McMaken, Regina Tanner, and Ernestine P. Jowers.

In addition to his parents, Levon was predeceased by three brothers: Dewey Jowers, Mackey Jowers, and Roby Jowers.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Kingsburg Baptist Church, 1730 Old River Road, Johnsonville, South Carolina, 29555. The family will receive friends in the Kingsburg Baptist Church sanctuary one hour prior to the Memorial Service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Levon’s memory to Kingsburg Baptist Church, c/o Sherry Harwell, Treasurer, 1655 Allison Landing Road, Johnsonville, South Carolina, 29555.
