Charles Alton Owens, Sr., 53, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2020 in a Florence hospital.

Charles was born in Georgetown, SC, a son of Brenda Joyce Pope Owens and the late Alton Davis Owens. He worked for many years with Alfred Owens and Sons Logging Co. before starting his own logging company, Charles Owens and Son Logging Co.

He enjoyed working and tinkering on things, working on cars, racing mud trucks, watching NASCAR but most of all spending time with his children, grandchildren, and helping others when he could.

He is survived by his mother, Brenda Joyce P. Owens; children, Brandi (Brian) Allen, Morgan (Brian) Blackmon, and Charles Alton "CJ" Owens, Jr.; grandchildren, Braxton Allen, Jaxson Owens, and Addie Blackmon; sisters, Brenda (Carey) Lewis and Stephanie (Bub) Montgomery; nieces, Ashley Montgomery, Alisha Lewis, and Bailey Lewis; nephew, Brock Montgomery.

He was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Harris and Ina Gunter Pope; brother, Jerry "Mutt" Owens.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM with funeral services at 6:00 PM on Friday, May 15, 2020, in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, 416 N. Main St., Hemingway, SC 29554.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, individuals are asked to use good judgment and observe social distancing protocols if attending.
