Daphney "Toot" Winnifred Avant, 81, widower of Marcia Louise Bass Avant passed away Monday, March 4, 2024 at his home.

Mr. Toot was born in Florence, SC, a son of the late DJ and Rosa Belle Avant.  He was a member of Williams Hill Free Will Baptist Church.  He was a carpenter by trade who enjoyed fishing and spending time with friends and family.  He especially loved time with his god-grandchildren.  He enjoyed socializing and never ran across a stranger.

Mr. Toot is survived by nieces, Hope Willis, Dawn Coleman, Tammy Marlow; nephew Robbie Avant; god grandchildren, Preston Baggett and Kayla Baggett (Chris and Jennifer Baggett) as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Toot was predeceased by a brother, Earl Avant.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2024 in the Deep Creek Community Cemetery at 19761 Choppee Road, Hemingway, SC.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm on Thursday, March 7, 2024 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel located at 416 N Main Street, Hemingway, SC, 29554.
