David Lee Guthrie, 69, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2026 in a Florence hospital.

David was born in Chicago, IL, a son of the late James Coolidge and Dorothy J. Smith Guthrie. He was a retired Office Manager as well as a member of the Westside Free Will Baptist Church in Johnsonville, SC. He was an active and devoted member of AA, enjoyed helping others, and loved working on jigsaw puzzles.

He is survived by a brother, Jimmy Guthrie and a sister, Sara Taone; nieces and nephews, Jamie Ignowski, James Taone, and Jonathan Taone; and seven great nieces and nephews as well as his extended family, Karen and Gary Isgett, Jordan Isgett, and Elevene and Herman “Bunn” Hanna,

He was predeceased by a brother, Ralph Simpson and a sister, Dorothy Isgett.

A Celebration of Life service, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 from 1:00 - 2:30 PM at Westside Free Will Baptist Church, 530 Vox Highway, Johnsonville, SC, 29555.
