Dewey Leroy Carter, 89, husband of Laura Lopez Carter, passed away Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019 in a local care center.

Mr. Dewey was born in Hemingway, SC, a son of the late Jessie James and Myrtle Rowe Carter. He was a retired farmer, attended the Whitfield Assembly of God Church, and he enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Laura Lopez Carter; daughters, Ruby Carter, Emerald Carter, Barbara Owens, Wanda Kirkland, and Merlynn  Boutwell; brothers, Carlie Carter, Carroll Carter, and Jessie Carter; sisters, Lillian Verlene Weber and Betty Jean McClam; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside services, will be held at 3 PM, Saturday, November 23, 2019 in the Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery, 114 E. Trinity Road, Johnsonville, SC 29555, directed by Morris Funeral Home, 416 N. Main St., Hemingway, SC 29554.
