Donetta Mae Matthews Lawrence, 90, widow of Carol B. Lawrence,  passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, South Carolina.

A daughter of the late Thurman and Mayo Hanna Matthews, Donetta was born on May 10, 1935, in Florence, South Carolina.  Donetta graduated from Johnsonville High School in Johnsonville.  After graduation, she went on to build a career in payroll at Wentworth Manufacturing. Her dedication and attention to detail were hallmarks of her professional life.

Outside of work, Donetta found joy in the simple pleasures that brought people together. She had a love for puzzles and various arts and crafts, often creating pieces that reflected her creativity and care. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family, finding happiness in their company and milestones.

Donetta is survived by her son Dave (Lee Ann) Lawrence and daughter Kim (Cliff) Hudson; grandchildren Dustin Lawrence, Devin (Jules) Lawrence, Gains Hudson, and Caitlin Hudson; and in-laws Janene Long, Myrna Hanna, and Cheryl (Eddie) Marsh. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel, 416 N. Main Street, Hemingway, South Carolina, 29554.

Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home, will take place immediately following the service at Lee Cemetery located at 2430 McCutcheon Road, Lake City, South Carolina, 29560.
