Dorothy Matthews Miller, 70, wife of Larry E. Miller, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2017 at her home.
Mrs. Dorothy was born in Olanta, SC, a daughter of the late Ernest William and Louise Lee Matthews. She was a retired seamstress, a member of New Prospect Free Will Baptist Church and was in charge of arranging her family reunions. She loved working with her flowers, watching her grandsons and the Raiders play ball, cooking, pottery and decorating for Christmas.
Surviving is her husband of 51 years, Larry E. Miller of the home; daughters, Pamela M. (Rusty) Turner, Kimberly A. Miller and Tonya M. Owens all of Pamplico, SC; grandsons, Dr. John Elliot Turner of Columbia, SC, Cameron R. Turner of New York, NY, and Nickolas J. Owens of Pamplico, SC; adopted grandson, John T. Murtha II of Pamplico, SC; sisters, Judy Groves of Marion, IL and Eloise M. (Allen) Taylor of Ashland,KY; a host of special nieces and nephews and very special cousins.
Mrs. Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved son-in-law, Thomas Jay Owens, Jr. of Pamplico, SC; sister, Elise M. Woodard of Greeleyville, SC, brothers, Carlisle Welch and Cornell Welch both of Sumter, SC, sisters, Sue Nell McCutcheon and Maylean M. Matthews both of Olanta, SC, brother, Sylvester Matthews of Pennsylvania, brother, John Edward Matthews of Kingstree, SC, and two infant siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 PM Tuesday, August 15, 2017 in the New Prospect Free Will Baptist Church, Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, August 14, 2017 in the New Prospect Free Will Baptist Church, 4221 Sheminally Road, Pamplico, SC 29583.
