Dustin Boyd Cantey, 29, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2019 at his home.
Dustin was born in Florence, SC, a son of Russell "Rusty" Cantey and Tammy Mixon Cantey. He had worked as an IT specialist and Graphic Design Artist for Comm Tech Security of Myrtle Beach, SC. Dustin was of the Pentecostal Holiness Faith. He was a passionate musician who loved playing the guitar, piano, keyboard, singing, and art, as well as being passionate about his songwriting. In his free time he enjoyed skateboarding, playing tennis and fishing.
He is survived by his father, Russell "Rusty" Cantey of Johnsonville, SC; mother, Tammy Mixon Cantey of Hemingway, SC; partner, Amber of Aynor, SC; maternal grandmother, Linda Hill of Hemingway, SC; uncles, Charles Cantey of Johnsonville, SC and Tony Mixon of Myrtle Beach, SC; great uncles, Allen Mobley of Alvin, SC, Norris (Harriet) Mobley of Salters, SC, Legrand Mobley and Ricky (Lisa) Mobley both of Johnsonville, SC; special cousins, Spencer Mobley, Noah Mobley, and Jannie Mobley (Colby) Barnhill, all of Johnsonville, SC; God children, Ryder Smith of Myrtle Beach, SC and Karter Joseph Green of Anderson, SC; special friends, Brent Smith and Phillip Johnson both of Myrtle Beach, SC, Drew Cox of Hemingway, SC and Hunter Green of Anderson, SC.
Dustin was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Boyd and Christine Cantey; maternal grandfather, George Mixon, Jr.; maternal step-grandfather, Franklin Wayne Hill, Sr.; uncle Darry Cantey.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 28, 2019 in the New Hope Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at the New Hope Church, 719 N. New Hope Road, Johnsonville, SC 2955.
