Dylan Wayne Hanna, 18, passed from this life Monday, July 24, 2017 in a Florence hospital.
He was born on February 26, 1999, in Florence, SC, a son of Donnie Wynn Hanna, Sr. and Charity Altman Hanna. He was a rising senior at Johnsonville High School where he was a member of the Beta Club, a member of the Varsity football team, and a member of the JHS Track Team.
Dylan possessed a vitality that brought light and joy into the lives of others. He was always ready to help someone in need and his beautiful smile and loving personality was evident to all who knew him. Dylan was a gifted athlete. He represented Johnsonville High School in the state pole vault competition where he placed 3rd. He loved fishing, hunting, and going to the river. Most of all, Dylan loved his friends and his family. He was especially proud to be the Godfather of his nephew, Remington Drake Hanna. He was sworn in as a United States Marine on July 14, 2017 and he was proud and excited to serve his country as a member of the United States Marine Corp.
Dylan is survived by his parents, Donnie and Charity Hanna; brothers, Donnie Wynn (Kelsee Cox) Hanna, Jr., Carson Ross Hanna, and Connor Altman Hanna; nephew, Remington Drake Hanna; maternal grandfather, C. R. Altman; paternal grandparents, Ronnie and Ka'Renia Hanna and Jackie Metts; maternal great-grandparents, Buddy and Francis Davis; aunts and uncles, Kiersten and Adam Woodward, Trenton and Jennifer Altman, Darry Hanna and Samantha and Bradley Timmons, as well as numerous cousins and a host of friends.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Debbie Davis Altman; maternal great-grandmother, Patty Davis; uncle Davey Hanna.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, July 27, 2017 in the Johnsonville High School Gymnasium. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be in the Hanna Cemetery, Hanna Cemetery Road, Johnsonville, SC.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM Thursday, July 27, 2017 in the Johnsonville High School Gymnasium, 237 S. Georgetown Highway, SC 29555.
Pallbearers, will be Taylor Ard, Harley Ard, Justin "Buckshot" Thompson, Jim Cagle, Trey Hanna, Matt Lamb, Dave Morris, and Cam Griffin.
Dylan loved life and lived it to the fullest. He knew who he was and did not apologize or change to meet the expectations of others. He loved people, listened to them, and gave of himself totally. His larger-than-life personality and serving spirit endeared him to all fortunate enough to call him friend. Dylan Wayne Hanna was special young man who made this world a better place because he passed this way.
