EDWARD "ED" MURRELL TANNER

Edward "Ed" Murrell Tanner, 91, widower of Eleanor Gertrude Joye Tanner, passed away on Wednesday February 19, 2025 in the McLeod Hospice House.

Mr. Ed was born in Johnsonville SC, a son of the late of Millege and Ruth Eva McCall Tanner. He was the owner and operator of Tanners Nursery in Johnsonville SC.

Fresh out of high school in 1952 he joined the US Army becoming an MP during the Korean war. After his discharge in 1953 he went to work at Wellman Industries. There he retired as the director of both safety and security. He was a founding member of what is now known as Community Free Will Baptist Church. In his free time he loved reading and studying his bible but most of all loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter Sharon (An) McChesney; grandchildren Taylor (Rebecca) McChesney, Megan McChesney, great-granddaughters Brynleigh McChesney and Blakeleigh McChesney; and his brothers Harold Tanner, Jerry (Holly) Tanner and Terry (Vikki) Tanner.

He is Predeceased by a brother and sisters-in-law Hugh (Shirley) Tanner, and Linda Tanner.

Arrangements will be PRIVATE and Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway SC, will be assisting the family.
