Hemingway, SC

Elbert J. Roberts, 72, passed away Friday, November 9, 2018 in the Conway Manor nursing center.

Mr. Elbert was born in Hemingway, SC, a son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Annie Eliza Cockfield Roberts. He was retired from Georgetown Steel after 27 years as an overhead crane operator, was a member of the Steel Workers Union, and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed fishing, mechanic work, tinkering on things, and spending time with his family.

Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Windal McCutcheon Roberts; children, Patricia (Kelly) Moore and Tony (Michelle) Roberts; sister, Annie Mae (James) Benton; granddaughters, Ashleigh Roberts and Samantha Roberts; nephews Legette and Lance.
He was predeceased by a brother, Johnny Cockfield.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM Monday, November 12, 2018 in the Freedom Tabernacle Full Gospel Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be in the Huxfield Cemetery, 5060 Pleasant Hill Dr., Hemingway, SC 29554.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM Monday, November 12, 2018 in the Freedom Tabernacle Full Gospel Church, 264 Roy Dr., Hemingway, SC 29554.
