Enid Cockfield
Enid Athalia Cox Cockfield, 90, loving wife of Jack W. Cockfield, died on Sunday, April 9 , 2023, surrounded by Family. She was born in Hemingway, SC daughter of the late Theophilus Walton Cox and Gladys Chandler Cox.
She was a dedicated lifetime member of Hemingway First United Methodist Church where she served on many Committees, Played the Piano, Directed Handbells and was a member of The Margaret Huggins Circle. She graduated from Hemingway High School and attended Columbia College. She taught Kindergarten and First Grade many years at Francis Marion Academy. She loved the Hemingway Community and served on the Williamsburg County Recycling Advisory Committee. She was a member of The Sunshine Club and Hemingway Garden Club. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family on the "Back Porch", tending to her flower garden, playing Bridge, and doing for others.
Surviving are her children, Jack "Jay" Walter (Kathy) Cockfield, Jr., Flynn Walton (Costa) Cockfield, Elizabeth "Libby" Cockfield (Alex) Bryant; Grandchildren, Courtney Cockfield (Todd) Avant, Caroline Cockfield (Nick) Stomski, Flynn Walton "Walt" (Meagan) Cockfield, Jr., Dr. Savannah Cockfield (Scott) Rogers, Dr. Jacquelyn "Jackie" Elizabeth Bryant, Alexander McCorkle "Mackie" (Karen) Bryant III, seven Great-grandchildren, a niece and nephew. She was preceded in death by her brother, Rev. Farrell Walton Cox.
Funeral Services will be held 4pm Wednesday, April 12 th at The Hemingway First United Methodist Church, 201 E. Broad Street, Hemingway, SC, directed by Morris Funeral Home.
Family will receive Friends following the Memorial Service in the Hemingway First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be sent to Hemingway First United Methodist Church, PO Box 6, Hemingway, SC 29554 or Amedisys Hospice, 500 Pamplico Highway Suite D, Florence, SC 29505.
