Franklin E. "Bom Bom" Hughes, Jr., 79, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017 at his home.

Mr. Hughes was born in Hemingway, SC, a son of the late Franklin E. Hughes, Sr. and the late Hannah Osette Avant Hughes. He started out driving trucks for Mr. Fred Gordon Edwards in Hemingway and retired from driving trucks for TC Trucking in Hemingway. He served in the SC National Guard.

Surviving is his wife, Maude Taylor Hughes; son, Ricky Hughes; grandchildren Crystal Hughes, Christie Hughes and Christopher Hughes; great-grandson Warren Oliver Whetsel; brothers, Wally Lee (Nancy) Hughes and Roger Dale (Sissy) Hughes; sisters, Geneva H. Wall and Jo Dell (Boe) Bridges.
He was predeceased by a son, Franklin Lee Hughes; brother, Mack Avant; sister, Doris A. Swails. and daughter-in-law, Lois Ann Hughes.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, June 19, 2017 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Garden of Devotion Cemetery, 800 S. Georgetown Highway, Johnsonville, SC 29555.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM Monday, June 19, 2017 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, 416 N. Main St., Hemingway, SC 29554.
