Gayle Mitchell Thompson, 79, passed away Sunday January 13, 2019 at a Kingstree, SC hospital.

Gayle was born in Spartanburg, SC to parents Thomas Pridmore Mitchell of Spartanburg, SC and Hallie Brooks Lovett Mitchell of Indiantown, SC. Gayle was a graduate of Indiantown high School and went on to attend Columbia College. She left college to marry and later earned a Bachelors of Science in Education at Francis Marion University. She taught school in the Williamsburg school system until she retired.

Gayle was a lifelong member of Indiantown Presbyterian Church in the Indiantown community. It was there that together with her husband of 59 years that she made her home and raised her 3 children. Gayle was a dedicated member of the Indiantown Ladies Circle as well as being involved in most church endeavors thru the years. She most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at home as well as in Murrells Inlet, SC.

Surviving are her husband, A.V. Thompson of Indiantown; children, Debrah Thompson Kirkland of Florence, Thomas Mitchell (Linda) Thompson of Indiantown, SC, and Ava Graham Thompson of Murrells Inlet; sisters, Ann Mitchell (A. C.) English, Lucia Mitchell (Barney) Epps, and Darlene Mitchell (Jim) Tyndall; grandchildren, Tracey Thompson Martin, Tamara Nicole Thompson, Marion Ernest Kirkland, III, and Maria Catherine Thompson.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 18, 2019 in the Indiantown Presbyterian Church, 4865 Hemingway Hwy., Hemingway, SC 29554, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, January 17, 2019 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, 416 N. Main St., Hemingway, SC 29554.
