Obituary

Gaynell Carpenter Ram, 49, widow of the late Joshua Ram, of Florence, South Carolina, passed away on June 30, 2026 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence.

Born on May 29, 1977, in Georgetown, South Carolina, Gaynell was a daughter of the late Richard Lee and Kathleen Carpenter Joye.  She grew up in Hemingway where she was a proud graduate of Hemingway High School's Class of 1997.

A devoted homemaker, Gaynell dedicated her life to her family and found immense joy in spending time with her loved ones. She cherished moments spent with her sisters as well as her nieces and nephews.

Gaynell had a deep appreciation for nature and often found solace in taking long walks outdoors. An avid reader with a profound faith, she spent countless hours reading the Word of God in the park—a practice that brought her peace and strength. Her unwavering "confidence in where she was going" provided comfort to those who knew her.

Gaynell is survived by a daughter, Faith Amber Ram Outlaw (Malcom); a son, Ben Joseph Allen Ram; six grandchildren; and sisters Kathy (Kevin) Miller and Jeanette Brown as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Gaynell was predeceased by her brothers, Robert Joye and Richard William Joye.
