George Kermit Massey, 80, went to live in the presence of his Lord Jesus on October 12th, 2025.

George, "Kermit" to his family, was born in Winchester, VA on October 7th, 1945.  He was the son of George Summers Massey and Edna Dutterer Massey.

He served his country in the United States Navy from 1963 to 1969 serving on the USS Ajax and the USS Rigel.

Upon his return to the United States, he pursued a career in long haul trucking, traveling to all parts of the United States and Canada.

He lived in Winchester, VA and then relocated to South Carolina in the late 1990s.  He resided in Marion County for the last 10 years of his life.

George loved his Lord, his family and his children.  He will be remembered by his son, Renny Kyle Massey (Courtney) of Ft. Belvoir, VA and daughter, Sydney Rae Massey of Georgetown, SC; his brother, Lawrence Massey of Canton, MI; sisters Lou Lindberg of Beaverton, MI; Julia DeChants (Michael) and Georgie Coffey of Sebastian, FL; Joyce Hinken and Fleta Trenary both of Scottsville, KY; granddaughter Mavery Eden Massey and many, many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Hazel Backus of Charles Town, WV.

A memorial gathering of friends and family is planned for November 28th from 1:00 – 3:00 at the chapel of Morris Funeral Home,  416 N Main Street, Hemingway, SC, 29554.

The family wishes to thank Tidelands Community Hospice for their care and support during these last days.
