Gerald Maurice Player, 76, husband of Brenda C. Player, passed away Friday, September 14, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Player was born in Lake City, SC, a son of the late John Wilson and Julia Louise Moore Player. He was the owner/operator of Player Furniture Company, and a member of the Old Johnsonville United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Johnsonville High School and Newberry College. He enjoyed his family, his work, and gardening.

Surviving is his wife, Brenda Chandler Player; children, Suzanne P. (Ken) Hawkins, Sylvia P. Horres, and Michael (Rachel) Player; brother, Danny Player; sisters, Judy Brewer and Diane Ellis; grandchildren, Emily Horres, Caroline Horres, Savannah Ard, Kristina Jerol, Olivia Player, Chandler Player, Jackson Player, and Ava Player.
He was predeceased by his brother, Jamie Player.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 18, 2018 in the Old Johnsonville United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be in the Old Johnsonville Cemetery, 800 S. Georgetown Hwy., Johnsonville, SC 29555.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, September 17, 2018 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, 416 N. Main St., Hemingway, SC 29554.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the New Cemetery at Old Johnsonville Fund, c/o Rick Newell, PO Box 338, Johnsonville, SC 29555.
