Guy Wilson "Billy" Mercer, 95, widower of Willie Owens Mercer, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2021, at his home.

Mr. Billy was born in Andrews, SC, a son of the late William Daney and Ida Virginia Munn Mercer. He was a retired power plant operator at International Paper Co. and was a member of Good Hope United Methodist Church. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, wood-working, singing, and playing bluegrass and gospel music on the guitar. Mr. Billy served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a generous and caring man and a riveting storyteller who possessed a very detailed memory of past events.

He is survived by his son, Kevin Mercer (Bryanna Ware); and grandchildren, Tabitha "Tabby" Nicole Mercer, Eden Olivia Mercer, and Nicholas Edward Mercer; niece, Karen Mercer Haselden.

He was predeceased by two sons, James Randall Mercer and Mark Edward Mercer.

Graveside services, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 11:30 AM, in the Good Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 11, 2021, from 10 AM until 11 AM at Good Hope United Methodist Church, 7547 Pleasant Hill Drive, Hemingway, SC 29554.
