Harriet Ann Creel Carraway, 84, wife of James L. "Jim" Carraway, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the McLeod Hospice House.
Harriet was born in Johnsonville, SC, a daughter of the late Willie Clarence Creel, Sr. and the late Eunice Venters Creel. She was a graduate of Johnsonville High School and the University of South Carolina with an Associate's Degree in Secretarial Science. She retired as Postmaster from the United States Postal Service.
She was a lifelong member of Johnsonville United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, served on numerous church committees including Administrative Council and United Methodist Women, and served her community as an Election Poll Manager.
She enjoyed playing bridge for over 50 years, shopping, being at the beach, cheering for the Gamecocks, entertaining friends but most of all spending time with her family.
Surviving are her husband of 63 years, James L. "Jim" Carraway; daughters, Ann (Tim) Chandler, Amy (Dudley) Harrington, Abbe (Barry) Couper; grandchildren, Russell (Amanda) Chandler, Andrew (Calli) Chandler, Jameson Chandler, Annsley Harrington (Taylor) Hall, Madison (Mary Katherine) Harrington, Daniel (Meghan, fiancé ) Couper, Matthew Couper; great-grandson, Andrew "Reece" Chandler; sister, Claire Creel McKenzie.
She was predeceased by 5 brothers, Willie Clarence, Nevin, Robert, Hugh, and David "Buddy" Creel; grandson, Dustin Chandler.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 27, 2019 in the Johnsonville United Methodist Church, 240 N. Georgetown Hwy, Johnsonville, SC. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be in the Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery, 114 E. Trinity Rd., Johnsonville, SC 29555.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday, March 26, 2019 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, 416 N. Main St., Hemingway, SC 29554.
Memorials may be made to the Johnsonville United Methodist Church, PO Box 449, Johnsonville, SC 29555 or the McLeod Hospice House, 1203 E. Cheves St., Florence, SC 29506.
