Harry Vance Huggins, 97, husband of Patsy Haselden "Pat" Huggins, died Monday May 30, 2022 at National Health Care in Garden City.

Harry was born on November 26, 1924 in Hemingway, SC, he was a son of the late Rev. Charles Dewey Huggins, Sr. and the late Rena Melvina Cox Huggins. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Patsy Haselden "Pat" Huggins; a daughter, Genie (George) Matthews of Murrells Inlet and two sons, Hal (Darlene) Huggins of Orangeburg and Tim (Ingrid) Huggins of Greenville; six grandchildren, Zack (Elizabeth) Huggins, Allie (Eric) Bunch, Max (Savannah) Huggins, Hillary (John) Evans, Kristen Huggins, and Hayden (Amalie) Huggins; and eight great-grandchildren, Corbett Huggins, Eden Huggins, Luke Huggins, Banning Bunch, Keller Bunch, Roman Bunch, Nolan Evans, and Brady Evans.

He was predeceased by his siblings, CD Huggins, Francis Huggins Ridgill, Jimmy Huggins, Tom Huggins, Catherine Fleming, and Dick Huggins.

Harry was a US Army Veteran of WWII having served in New Guinea and Australia. He was also a member of the Ed Hill American Legion Post # 84 in Hemingway.

He was a member of the Hemingway First Baptist Church, a member of the choir, Youth Sunday School Teacher, and Deacon. He was owner and operator of Harry's Sales and Service, his slogan was "Don't Tarry Call Harry". He served the Town of Hemingway as Director of the Public Works Department, and was a member of the Hemingway Fire Department for over 80 years. He was a Plumbing Instructor for Williamsburg Technical College, as well as the Hemingway Vocational Center.

Funeral services, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, June 5, 2022 in the Hemingway First Baptist Church. Burial, with Military Honors, will be in the Old Johnsonville Cemetery, 800 S. Georgetown Hwy., Johnsonville, SC 29555.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM Sunday, June 5, 2022 in the Hemingway First Baptist Church, 200 E. George St., Hemingway, SC 29554.
