Hattie Costa Hunter King, 90, widow of James W. "Billy" King, Sr., passed away Monday, January 7, 2019 in a Myrtle Beach Hospital.

Mrs. Hattie Costa was born in Marion, SC, a daughter of the late Jones Thomas Hunter, Sr. and the late Carolyn Stroman Hunter. She was a member of Kingsburg Baptist Church where she served as the church pianist and organist for over four decades.

She graduated from Marion County schools and Limestone College with a degree in Elementary Education. She cherished her primary role as homemaker, raising her family of three boys and three girls. She was known as a true Southern Lady, focusing on discipline, manners, and etiquette.

Hattie Costa enjoyed spending time at her home in Murrells Inlet with family, playing bridge, gardening, and doing needle work. She was an avid Clemson Tiger fan attending as many games as her health would allow. She was watching Clemson win the National Championship when she entered her heavenly home.

Surviving are her children, Joseph Willis (Suzanne) King, Carolyn Leigh "Sissy" King (Danny) Daniel, Mark Hunter (Tammy) King, Costa King (Flynn) Cockfield, and James William (Gilberto) King, Jr.; grandchildren, Joseph Willis "Johbe" (Caroline) King, Mason William (Kelly Ann) King, Mary Costa King (Chris) Marsh, James Franklin King, William Huston "Billy"(Amanda) Daniel, Mark Eliot (Monica) Daniel, Matthew King (Helen) Daniel, Grace Mechelle King (Chad) Lott, Capitola "Cappie" Holliday King (Jed) Bohler, Mary Margaret King (Chip) Hughes, Hunter Leigh King, and Flynn Walton "Walt" (Meagan) Cockfield, and Savannah Cockfield (Scott) Rogers,14 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Thames Ellis.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Capitola "Cappy" Holliday King; sister, Adelle Hunter West; brother, Jones Thomas Hunter, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, January10, 2019 at Kingsburg Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be in the Garden of Devotion, 800 S. Georgetown Hwy., Johnsonville, SC, 29555.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Kingsburg Baptist Church, 1730 W. Old River Road, Johnsonville, SC 29555.
