HOYT LEGRAND POSTON

Hoyt Legrand Poston, 82, husband of Catherine "Doody" Owens Poston, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.

Mr. Legrand was born in Florence, SC, a son of the late Manley Hoyt and Vera Lucille Thigpen Poston.  He was an avid auto racer and regularly drove the #28 car "back in the day" at the local dirt track.  Mr. Legrand found peaceful solitude in visiting the local river.  He also enjoyed visiting Baggett's station where he spent many hours "shooting the breeze" with friends.

Mr. Legrand was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church where was a member of the men's Sunday School class. He was retired from Delta Mills; however, according to Mr. Legrand, he worked harder with his brother, Harry, after he retired than he ever did at Delta Mills.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine Owens Poston; daughters, LaCheia (Donnie) Edmonds and Tammy (Bruce) McKenzie; sisters, Sandra (Wayne)Turner and Billie Jean (John) Coone; grandchildren, Travis (Heather) Morris, Lindsey (Kyle) Robinson, Brooke McKenzie, and Jamison Yarborough; great grandchildren Bentley Redding, Bruce Dowling, Fisher Morris, Olivia Robinson, and Piper Robinson; and sister-in-law, Sally Poston.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Legrand was predeceased by a son, Marty Poston; a brother, Harry Poston; and a brother-in-law, John Coone.

Funeral services, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.  Burial will be in the Prosser Cemetery located at 3360 Big Swamp Road, Pamplico, SC  29583.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1883 S Pamplico Highway, Pamplico, SC  29583.

Memorials may be made in Mr. Legrand's memory to the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1883 S. Pamplico Hwy., Pamplico, SC 29583.
