James H. Collins, Jr., 57, widower of Rhonda C. Collins, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2023, in a Florence, SC, hospital.

James was born in Hemingway, SC, a son of the late James H. Collins Sr. and the late Patricia McDaniel Collins. He was the owner and operator of Southern Comfort Heating and Cooling, through which he helped many friends and neighbors throughout the community and surrounding area. He was Past Master of Leo Masonic Lodge # 310.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, and drag racing, but most of all, he loved spending time with his friends and family.  James never met a stranger and will be missed by many.

He is survived by his daughter Caitland (Austin) Elmore; sister, Alice (Wyatt) Simmons; brother, Robbie (Peggy) Collins; grandchildren, Lila Elmore and Jamie Elmore: nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Daniel) Ard, Kendra (James) Altman, Kelsey Thompson (Jordan Williams), April (Tilmon) Welch, Brittany (Lewy) Cooper, and Patrick (Angie) Thompson; mother-in-law, Jackie Cusaac; special friends, Joey Evans and Donna Harrington.

He was predeceased by his wife, Rhonda Cusaac Collins; son, J.R. Collins; and nephew, Kenny Thompson.

Graveside services will be held Friday, August 18, 2023, at 10 am in the Little Star Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery located at 2750 Lake City Highway, Lake City, SC, 29560.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 17, 2023, from 2:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the family shop located at 4055 Huggins Road, Lake City, SC, 29560.
