James Perry Brock, Jr., 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 22, 2025 surrounded by his girls at The Pines in Florence, South Carolina.
Born on December 17, 1936 in Lyman, South Carolina, Jimmy was a son of the late James Perry Brock, Sr. and Lucille Johnson Brock. He was a graduate of Johnsonville High School Class of 1955, and went on to earn a associates degree. Jimmy built a career in textiles working as Vice-President of Georgetown Textiles in Andrews and the Director of Marketing for Wellman Industries. Later he worked with Metal Fab, Inc of Johnsonville.
Jimmy served honorably in the United States Army from 1959-1961. His devotion to fellowship and service was demonstrated through membership to the Johnsonville Masonic Lodge #365.
During his spare time, Jimmy found joy in the outdoors. He was an avid golfer who was a regular on the greens of The Wellman Club in Johnsonville. In addition, he enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a life-long member of both Stilly and Montgomery hunting clubs.
Jimmy is survived by his daughters Lori (Sandy) Strickland of Hartsville and Marla (Bryan) Durig of Irmo; grandchildren Brock Strickland of Montana, James Scott Strickland of Columbia, Mallory Durig of Hilton Head, Delaney Durig of Irmo, Meagan Durig of Irmo, and Nicole (Rick) Quinlan of North Carolina; great-grandson Declan Quinlan; and a brother Ronald Brock of Johnsonville and nieces and nephews
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, James Perry Brock, Sr. and Lucille Johnson Brock.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at 2:00 pm in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, 416 N. Main Street, Hemingway, SC, 29554. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will follow the service at the Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery, 114 E. Trinity Road, Johnsonville, SC, 29555. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 25, 2025 from 1:00 PM until 2:00PM, in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, 416 N Main Street, Hemingway, South Carolina 29554.
