Janet E. Straub, 77, widow of James "Jim" Straub, passed away Monday, August 8, 2022 at her home.

Mrs. Janet was born in Johnsonville, SC, a daughter of the late Archie Price Hughes and the late Mildred Browder-Hughes. She was retired from Coastal Carolina University as an Administrative Assistant. She enjoyed collecting shark's teeth, gardening, but what she enjoyed the most was sewing clothes for dolls and then giving them to needy children.

She is survived by her children, Donna Dean and Douglas Michael "Mike" Schlachter; grandchildren, Haven (Chris Hylton) Dean, Stephanie (Keith Keen) Dean, Dakota "Koty" (Holly) Dean, and Sara Shifflett; great-grandchildren, Tanner, Cora, Angel, Gunner, Noah, Callum, and Collin; sisters, Cheryl (Deryl) Poston and Carol Belge and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Henry John "Hank" Schlachter and two sisters, Peggy Cussac and Cynthia "Cindy" Royal

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, August 12, 2022 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Garden of Devotion Cemetery, 800 S. Georgetown Highway Johnsonville, SC 29555.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM Friday, August 12, 2022 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, 416 N. Main St. Hemingway, SC 29554.
