Jaxie Gaskins Poston,94, passed away Friday November 2, 2018 at the McLeod Hospice House surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 17, 1924 in Hannah, SC and was the daughter of the late Miley Richard and Mary Gaskins Gaskins. She was beloved as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She will be fondly remembered for her Godly Character, true southern hospitality and Christian values. Her life was devoted to her Faith, Husband and family.
Mrs. Poston was a graduate of Hannah School and was a member of Mt Zion Baptist Church for 78 years. Many of those years were spent teaching the Adult Women's Sunday School Class, singing in the choir and participating in many other church activities. Folk Nursing Home was fortunate enough to have her as an Activity Director for 18 years.
Pre-deceased by her husband of 55 years R. L. Poston; son, Ray Poston and son in law Randy Yarchever. Survived by her children Mitchell (Louise) Poston, Roger (Sharon) Poston, Joye Bolick, Judy Poston and Jan Yarchever. Grandchildren Shannon Rider, Trey (Laura) Poston, Logan (Stan) McGill, Michael (Rachel) Bolick, Taylor (Dusty) Mouzon. Jennifer (John) Richardson and David Lassiter. Great grandchildren, Jaime, Jay, Hannah, Jenna, Trinity, Daisy, Jonathan, Gracie, Carter, Davis, Gus, Porter and baby Everly due in November. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the caregivers that have shown love to our mom and family over the years, especially to the current caregivers Virginia (Bunny) McKenzie, Rosemary Fulmore and Libby Collins. A special thank you to a dear friend and precious caregiver, Irene Foxworth.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 4, 2018 in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends after the service in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1883 S. Pamplico Hwy., Pamplico, SC 29583.
