Jeffrey L. (Bo) Powell, 82, went to be with the Lord on February 5, 2023. He passed away peacefully at McLeod Hospice in Florence, SC, family by his side.

Jeffrey was born April 5, 1940, in Florence County, the son of the late Dike and Earline Tanner Powell. He was married to Florence Elizabeth Crook.

He is survived by a brother, Norris T. Powell, and four sisters, Katie Avant Parsons, Louvenia Smith, Pancye Hunt, and Jennifer Powell. Surviving also are a number of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry B. Powell, and two sisters, Hazel L. Mascara, and Lula Y. Mims.

Jeffrey grew up in Johnsonville, attended Johnsonville school, and served his country in the army and national guard. He lived much of his adult life in the Tampa, Florida area. He was an iron worker by trade but enjoyed fishing so much, he turned that into a career for many years.

Jeffrey was devoted to his church and loved to discuss the Bible with everyone. He had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh and saw the humorous side of most situations. He made lasting friends easily and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Graveside services, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, at New Hope Church cemetery, 719 New Hope Road, Johnsonville, SC.

Family will receive friends immediately following the service, at the cemetery.
