Jimmy Edward Jowers, Jr., 62, husband of Rhonda Morris Jowers, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 19, 2023, at MUSC Charleston surrounded by his family.
Jimmy was born in Florence, SC, a son of the late Jimmy E. Jowers, Sr., and Elaine DuRant Jowers. He was a graduate of Hemingway High School in the Class of 1979. A follower of the Baptist faith, he was the owner and operator of Jowers TV and Satellite. He was an avid South Carolina Gamecocks fan and administered the Gamecocks Forever Pick 'em League. In his spare time, he enjoyed NASCAR, watching Gamecock athletics, singing karaoke, playing the drums, going to the beach, and most of all spending time with his loving family.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda, of 26 years; sons, Jimmy Edward "Jamie" Jowers III and Chandler Weldon Jowers; a brother, Trini Durant Jowers; sisters, Cyphy Jowers (Woody) Elliott and Daphne Jowers (Avery) Owens; grandchildren, Carson Harold Jowers, Bentley Jameson Jowers, and Brylen Meade Jowers; nephews, Nathan Edward Howell (Kassidy), Tristen Avery Owens (Kinsey), and Dawson Lain Owens; a niece, Sydney Emerson Elliott; and a very close cousin, Darrel Tanner.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, June 23, 2023 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, 416 N. Main St., Hemingway, SC 29554.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, June 24, 2023 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Hemingway, SC with burial in the Old Johnsonville Cemetery, 846 S. Georgetown Hwy., Johnsonville, SC 29555.
In honor of Jimmy's love for the Gamecocks, attendees are encouraged to wear their Gamecock colors or attire.
The family will be receiving family and friends at 44 Cherokee Drive, Georgetown, SC 29440, with a gathering following the funeral.
Memorial donations can be made to the MUSC Children's Hospital, 10 McClennan Banks Dr., Charleston, SC 29425, or the South Carolina Autism Society, 806 12th Street, West Columbia, SC 29169.
