John Bennett "Benjie" Kennedy, 63, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021 in a Florence hospital.

Benjie was born in Columbia, SC, a son of the late John Wesley Kennedy, Jr. and the late Loretta Bennett Kennedy. He was a Construction Project Manager, a member of the Hemingway First United Methodist Church, the Men's Fellowship, and was a Boy Scout Troop Leader.

He was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather, and he enjoyed woodworking but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara "Bebe" Harrell Kennedy; children, Klay (Merrell) Kennedy and Cassie Kennedy (Rob) Mills; step-children, Taylor (Kathryn Anne) Miller, Amber Miller, and Michael (Emily) Miller; brother, David Kennedy; sister, Kitty (Hank) Coombs; 10 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephew; and his adorable Dachshund dogs, Greta and Gabi.

Graveside services, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 9, 2021 in the Garden of Devotion Cemetery, 800 S. Georgetown Hwy., Johnsonville, SC 29555.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hemingway First United Methodist Church, PO Box 6, Hemingway, SC 29554 or in honor of his granddaughter, Olivia Mills, the 11q Research and Resource Group, 2020 Avery Rd, Canton, GA 30115.
