John Gordon Snowden, 83, husband of Linda Courtney Snowden, passed away Friday, March 11, 2022 in a Florence hospital.
Mr. John was born in Kingstree, SC, a son of the late John Wilson and Virginia Wilson Snowden. He was a retired farmer and real estate broker, a member of Indiantown Presbyterian Church where he was a former deacon and held the position of Trustee, a graduate of Clemson University, class of 1960, with a degree in Agricultural Education, and was also a Master Mason of Leo Lodge # 310.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was devoted to his family. He had many close friends and enjoyed socializing with them. He was a close friend of Bill W. for 47 years. John enjoyed gardening, fishing in his pond, traveling, and playing basketball.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Linda Courtney Snowden; daughter, Susan McCutchen; grandchildren, Trevor (Anna) Barnhill, Christopher (Madison) Barnhill, and Britton McCutchen; great-granddaughter, Evelyn Barnhill; brother-in-law, Bill (Sally) Courtney; a number of nieces and nephews; Honorary family: Jackie, Jane, Christian, and Michael Anne Pennell; and a special friend, Bubba Pressley.
He was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Dot Snowden.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, March 14, 2022 in the Indiantown Presbyterian Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM Monday, March 14, 2022 in the Indiantown Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, 4865 Hemingway Hwy., Hemingway, SC 29554.
In lieu of flowers memorials made be made to Indiantown Presbyterian Church, 4865 Hemingway Hwy., Hemingway, SC 29554
