Mr. John Eleba Thompson, 91, husband of Betty Boone Thompson, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at his home.

Mr. John was born in Hemingway, SC, a son of the late Eleba Spurgeon and Lettie Carter Thompson. He was a retired farmer, but had also worked as a mechanic, Merchant, and in Real Estate. He was a member of the Outland Church Of God and was a mason in his earlier years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, but loved talking.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Betty Boone Thompson; children, Charlton (Geneve) Thompson, Sr. and Annette Thompson (David) Parker; sisters, Helen Cribb and Lois Onita Thompson; brother, Jimmy Dale (Nancy) Thompson; grandchildren, Charlton (Christie) Thompson, Jr., Candace (Jim) Brown, Summer (Nathan) Baxley, John Boone (Tiffany) Thompson, Ivie Parker, and Brooke Parker; 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Juanita Thompson. He was predeceased by brothers, William (Louise) Thompson, Wayne Thompson, and Ellenburg Thompson; sisters, Creola (Esaw) Birchmore, Ruby (Dunkin) Perry, Jenette (Henderson) Owens, and Sarah (Wildon) Cameron; brother-in-law, Melvin Cribb.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, June 25, 2021 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Old Johnsonville Cemetery, 846 S. Georgetown Hwy. Johnsonville, SC 29555.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM Friday, June 25, 2021 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, 416 N. Main St., Hemingway, SC 29554.
