Joseph "Joe" Lewis Tanner, Jr., 79, passed away Friday, November 9, 2018 in the McLeod Hospice house.
Mr. Joe was born in Hemingway, SC, a son of the late Joseph Lewis Tanner, Sr. and the late Jennie Chandler Tanner. He was a retired machine operator for Wellman Industries and for many years he was a brick mason for Jowers Masonry. He attended Liberty Southern Christian Pentecostal Holiness Church and enjoyed playing his guitar, gardening and fishing but most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife, Regina Jowers Tanner; daughters, Cynthia (Tony) Hucks and LaWanda (Ben) Jones; grandchildren, Jessica Hucks, Ashley Hucks, Chelsey Jones, and Anthony (Amanda) Hucks, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Torrie, Aiden, A. J., Reagan, Aubrey, Evie, Alex, and Austin; sister-in-law, Jennifer Tanner; sister, Sandy (Glen) Eaddy; a number of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Michael Tanner; brother, Steve Tanner.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, November 12, 2018 in the Liberty Southern Christian Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be in the Union United Methodist Church Cemetery, 8209 Rose Hill Road, Georgetown, SC 29440.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM Monday, November 12, 2018 in the Liberty Southern Christian Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1277 Pope Road, Hemingway, SC 29554.
