Joseph D. Timmons, 76, passed away peacefully at MUSC Health Florence Medical Center in Florence, SC on Sunday, March 24, 2024.

Born in Florence County, Mr. Joseph was a son of the late Jimmy D. and Bernice Timmons.  He was a farmer who spent his life working the land.  He was a well-read person who enjoyed learning and talking about cars.  Mr. Joseph especially enjoyed going through the drive-thru at a variety of fast food restaurants with family and friends.  After picking up his food, he liked to sit in the parking lot talking and eating.

Mr. Joseph is survived by sisters, Louise James and Trella Driggers; a brother-in-law, Elton Nettles; nieces and nephews, Darlene (Derrick) Coker, Clint Nettles, Priscilla (Rev. Joe) Liabastre, Marion (Sherry) James, Rev. Michael (Debra) James, and Patty James; many other nieces and nephews; and very special friend, Beatrice Powell.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Joseph was pre-deceased by sisters Lula Lane, Gladys Coker, Helen McLeod, and Alberta Nettles; brothers, Henry Timmons and Mark Hanna; and niece-in-law, Sarah Godwin Nettles.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel located at 416 N Main Street, Hemingway, SC, 29554.  Burial will be in the Lake Chapel Cemetery, 860 Lake Chapel Road, Johnsonville, SC, 29555.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel.
