Kay Maree Rogers Pontius, 81, widow of William David "Bill" Pontius, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2022 in the McLeod Hospice House.

She was born and raised in Johnsonville, SC by her parents, Olin and Ruby Rogers. She graduated from Johnsonville High School. She lived and worked for many years in Miami, Florida and retired from an airline company there. She retired to live in Johnsonville in 2000.

Kay became a Christian at a young age and was a faithful member of the Johnsonville First Baptist Church. She was a very compassionate and caring person and never wanted to see anyone in need without helping them in any way she could.

Kay always enjoyed making friends and could entertain you with her humorous and witty quips. She always enjoyed having pets around her and took great care of them.

Kay was predeceased by her parents; her husband, William D. Pontius; and her brother, Wayne S. Rogers. She is survived by her son, Stephen L. Furches and his wife Judy; her twin grandchildren, Jim and Melina Furches; and sister, Ruth R. Sarvis.

Visitation for friends will be 2:00 PM September 19, 2022 at Johnsonville First Baptist Church followed by her service at 3:00 PM. Burial will be in the Lake Chapel Cemetery in Johnsonville, SC.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Johnsonville First Baptist Church in her memory.
