LaRita G. Gaster, 83, widow of John Lewis Gaster, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023 in the McLeod Hospice, Florence, SC.

Mrs. LaRita was born in Rush Springs, OK, the daughter of the late Ross and Bonnie Gilpin.  Mrs. LaRita was a member of New Hope Church where she served on the decorating and benevolence committees.  She enjoyed serving in her church, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, Claude (Paula Huggins) Williams and Ricky (Sharon) Powell; grandchildren Josh Powell, Adam (Taylor) Powell, Suzanne (Danny) Chavis, Ryan (Bentley) Doonan, Blake Miller, Wyatt Griffith, and Chandler Griffith; great-grandchildren Mack Doonan, Lucy Doonan, Liam Chavis, Anne Boyd Chavis; brother, Thomas "Butch" (Ida) Gilpin; Nephews, Dewayne Mogg and Sean Gilpin; step-son Thomas (Paige) Gaster; and step-grandchildren Matt (Caitlyn) Gaster and Rachel (Jake) Edmunds.

Mrs. LaRita was predeceased by daughter, Carla Miller; son, Lance Williams; grand-son Justin Williams; and sister, Gail Mogg.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Tuesday, November 21, 2023 in the New Hope Church, 719 N. New Hope Road, Johnsonville, SC 29555. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will follow in the Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. prior to the service.
