Hemingway, SC
Larry Edward Cunningham, age 69, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at his home surrounded by his wife and children.
He was born on May 7, 1949, to Dolly Simon and the late Jack Cunningham of Columbia. He was a graduate of A. C. Flora High School. He was a proud alum of the University of South Carolina, where he played baseball. He served in the Army National Guard and later earned an MBA from the University of Virginia. He was an avid water skier.
Upon marrying his beloved wife, Sherry Cameron Cunningham he relocated from Lexington to Hemingway, which he called home for over a quarter century. He worked with Anderson Brothers Bank overseeing federal and state bank regulatory compliance.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Cunningham; his daughters, Leigh Ann Poston, Erin (Scott) Smith, and Rebecca (Ellis) Creel; his mother, Dolly Simon; his sister, Kathy (Gary) James; and three grandchildren, Cameron Stone, Lilly Smith, and Francis Creel. He is also survived by his nieces, cousins and many loved ones. He is predeceased by his father, Jack, and son-in-law, Patrick Stone.
The family will receive guests on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Poplar Hill Free Will Baptist Church, 2380 St. Hwy 41/51, Hemingway, SC 29554.
Memorial services will follow at 2:00 PM, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC.
