Larry Wayne Joye, 72, husband of Kathy Elliott Joye, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family and friends.

Larry was born in Hemingway, SC, a son of the late Murray and Linnie Miller Joye and Cecil Owens. He was retired from the Palmetto Paper Tube Co. in Hemingway, SC, a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, the Mt. Zion Brotherhood, and was also a member of the Pleasant Hill Bass Masters Fishing Club.

He enjoyed bass fishing, gardening, carpentry, and building things for others, but most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathy Elliott Joye; children, Cecil Joye and William (Jenny) Joye; grandchildren, PFC Alan Joye, Natalie Joye, Brynlee Barr, Brycen Barr, Maggie Joye, and Maverick Joye; brother, Grady Owens; sister, Miriam Goude.

He was predeceased by brothers, J. W. Owens, Laurice Joye, Cleland Joye, Murray Joye, Jr., and Rembert Joye.

Funeral services, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, December 23, 2021 in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, with burial in the Huxfield Cemetery, 5060 Pleasant Hill Dr., Hemingway, SC 29554.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, December 22, 2021 in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 5542 Carvers Bay Rd., Hemingway, SC 29554.
